Miss Galena Rhyann Pittman, Kelly Hall, Jr. Miss Galena Daisey Anderson and Little Miss Galena Michaela Green

Galena, Kan. – The Annual Galena Days Celebration was held last Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The celebration is the annual fundraiser for the Galena Volunteer Fire Departement. This year there were 19 girls who vied for the title of either Little Miss, Junior Miss or Miss Galena. The girls ranged in age from kindergarten to seniors in high school.
With a total ticket sales this year at about $34,000 the three winners were Little Miss Galena Michaela Green, Junior Miss Galena Daisey Anderson, and Miss Galena Ryhann Pittman.
The girls sold chances on a grand prize of $10,000. Several other nightly prizes were available to win as well.
The winner of the $10,000 was Kelly Hall, Webb City, Mo.
Ms. Hall donated $1,000 back to the fire department. She is a cancer survivor since 2012.
This year the queen contest was coordinated by Sharon Anderson, Susan Babbit, Nancy Bryant, and Ashley Qualls. In addition to the usual coordination of the candidates, the ladies held events over the preceding months including a father/daughter date night and a mother/daughter tea.
Each evening the events were emceed by Jerry Derfelt, Stephen Derfelt and Ashley Qualls.
Entertainment for this year included Sarah Dunn, Milton Patton, LiveWire and Duke Mason.
