Baxter Springs recognizes student postcard winners

Baxter Springs, Kan. – Councilwoman Sue Gast, on behalf of the Economic Development Committee, recognized April Slavens, high school, and Vance Asquith, middle school, as the winners of the art contest and their drawings were made into postcards. The postcards are available for sale around Baxter Springs for $1.00.
Mr. Clarence Matlock, Cable One, came before the council to request an easement to lay fiber optic cable for about 2,000 feet along 5th Street to supply ATec Steel with fiber optics. It was stated that it would need to be sent to the cable committee and a decision would be made at the next council meeting.
