Columbus, Kan. – Earleen Wilson Tyree, age 69 passed away at 6:53 pm, Friday June 13, 2014 at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, Mo., following an illness.
Mrs. Tyree was born Jan 17, 1945. She was the fifth child born to Ralph and Mildred (Sharp) Richardson.
She attended Columbus area schools and graduated from CCHS in 1963. Later on she attended beauty school in Dallas, Texas, graduating in 1970. She worked as a hairdresser in Dallas, Wichita, and then at Columbus Medicalodge for 12 years and also worked as a cook at Medicalodge for 10 of those years until her retirement in 2012.
Earleen was known as a very caring and kind person who loved her family. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Columbus and had been attending the Victory Life Church in Pittsburg, Kan., since 2004 where she helped children by giving free back to school haircuts.
In September, 1976 she married Billy Wilson and they made their home in Wichita for many years. They moved back to Columbus after Billy retired. Billy passed away October 29, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her father; mother; step-father, Ernest Gentry; three sisters, Jane Ann Richardson, Kathleen Barkdoll, and Aline Tucker; and one step-daughter, Sheila Wilson Belanger.
She married Henry Tyree in May 2005. He survives of the home.
Additional survivors include a sister, Paulene Barkdoll (Carl), Scammon, Kan.; a brother, Ralph Richardson (Judy), Columbus, Kan.; six step-children, Brian Wilson, Wichita, Kan., Billy Cashero, Thayer, Kan., Roberta Rader, Esterville, Iowa, Elizabeth Kreiger, Cheyenne, Wyo., Tammy Shipman, Columbus, Kan., and Mildred Barrett, Columbus; 11 grandchildren, Nathaniel Kreiger, Kendra Rono, Kristin McFarling, Tayler McFarling, Amanda Shipman, Sean Shipman, Sarah Lawson, Andrew Rader, Seth Kreiger, Brice Barrett, Heather Barrett, Leah Wilson, Drew Belander, Brent Wilson, and Nick, Wilson.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am, Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Columbus, Kan. Pastor Dennis Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Edgmand Cemetery, rural Columbus, KS.
The family received friends from 6:00 -7:00 pm, Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Columbus, Kan.
