Hettie “Polly” Sharp

Columbus, Kan – Hettie Pauline “Polly” Sharp, age 92, passed away at 1:45 pm, Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Medicalodge, Columbus, Kan. following an illness.
Polly was born August 14, 1921 in Columbus, Kan. Her parents were Ben and Faye (Shultz) Capron. She was a lifetime resident of Columbus.
She graduated from CCCHS, Columbus, with the class of 1939. She was a seamstress and had worked at King Louie, Baxter Springs before retiring from Glenberry’s, Commerce Okla. in 1985. She was a member of the Purcell Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Columbus, Kan. Among her interest were sewing, gardening, and cooking.
Surviving is one son, Charles E Sharp, Columbus, Kan; three daughters, Sandra K Almond (husband, Kenneth), Phoenix, Ariz., Paula Sue Andrews (husband, Bruce), Columbus, Kan. and Sara Jane North (husband, Terry), Galena, Kan; her twin sister, Hattie Geraldine Auman, Lowell, Kan; 6 grandchildren, Shelley Mitchell, Buck Sharp, Brian Andrews, Kaeri Williams, Maradeth Frederick, and Megan North Robbins; and 11 Great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, Jack, Virgil, Byrle, and Bennie Capron and one sister, Alene Carter.
Graveside services will be held at 3:30 pm, Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Columbus Cemetery. Pastor Dennis Johnson will officiate.
The family received friends from 6:00 – 7:00 pm, Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Columbus, Kan.
Memorial contributions may be made to the 4-H Council Foundation in care of the funeral home.
