Lady Bulldogs Take Another Win

Briley Krouse | Columbus, Kansas

The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Columbus last Tuesday evening to play Northeast and Columbus. They came up short against Northeast, but took Columbus to three sets and came out on top.
First up was Northeast, and the Bulldogs could not seem to get anything rolling. They lost the first set (9-25), and the second set (12-25). Briley Krouse led the team with six kills and eleven assists.
Next up was Columbus and unfortunately came out with the same energy as they did in the first match against Northeast. They picked up the pace in the second set and took the next two sets against Columbus to win the match. Columbus won the first set (25-18) with Galena pulling out the second set (25-17), and the third set (25-16) to pull out their second victory of the young season. Galena battled hard to pull out the win and refused to hang their heads. Briley Krouse and Raylynn Downey each had five kills, and Lexi Price had 20 assists.
On Thursday, the girls played at Southeast, and played the best three out of five sets. They lost all three with the scores at (20-25), (13-25), and (11-25). Galena battled hard the first set, but Southeast picked up speed and the Bulldogs could not catch up. Haley Pence had five kills, and Raylynn Downey had nine kills.
Haley Pence was quoted “I feel like we should have played better against Southeast, but it was great to beat Columbus on Tuesday.”
