Chapter AB of the P.E.O. Sisterhood held their first meeting of the season on September 5th with Ada Emmert, Patricia Noe and Patti Street as hostesses. Patti Street, president, called the meeting to order with one officer pro-tem. Project committee chairladies gave their respective reports. It was of great interest that a Cottey College article was in the recent Joplin Globe, and a beautiful color double page picture of the campus was in the magazine SHOW
The Chaplain, Kim Colgrove gave a meditation liking the hurricane to the account of stormy waters in the book of Luke as well as stormy events that might be invading our lives, concluding that there is refuge in knowing Jesus Christ.
The new beautiful sea blue yearbooks, enhanced with seashells, were passed out and the programs introduces by Patricia Noe and Diane Shaw.
In keeping with the theme, and knowing the depth of the seas are very dark, the table coverings were black with seashells, coral, and other sea critters. Finger food of cheese, crackers, veggies and sweet dessert, with choice of tea, lemonade or water were enjoyed.
Others present were Sheri Fuller, Lois Dugan, Reva Hopkins, Shirley Lytle, Sue Drennan, Cathryn Ezell, Shari McPherson, Donna Shaw, Ruth Anderson, Nellie Hoskins, Sandy Anderson, Diane Shaw, Shelley Adams, Rose Ann Davis, and Sheryll Vogel. Several brags including new births, college updates, engagements, as well as prayer requests were shared.
The beautiful turquoise pottery piece made and donated by John Smittle was raffled off among the members and Diane Shaw was the recipient. Proceeds will go to the Scholarship Fund.
The next meeting will be September 19th and held at the Galena Museum with Shelley Adams, Rose Ann Davis and Diane Shaw will be hostesses.
