Galena City Council follows statutes correctly

As the editor of the Sentinel-Times, official city newspaper for Galena.

I want to give credit to the Galena City Council, where credit is due.

As far as the statutes are concerned, the special meeting, held at 2:00 p.m., January 7, 2015 at Galena City Hall, was handled correctly and followed the statutes correctly.

From the 2-hour notification and the follow through of the proceedings by only discussing the only item on the agenda.

No statutes have been violated in this proceeding.

Thank you,

Machelle Smith, Editor of The Sentinel-Times

Does the date being 1/7/2015 have any impact on the proceedings ?…

The article has been updated to include a copy of the faxed agenda.

Interesting that a “special meeting” concerning the moratorium of a possible landfill was scheduled in the middle of the afternoon whereas the hard working people of Galena and Riverton would not be able to be present. The meeting comes up two days after mention of a special meeting from last Monday night’s council meeting. Interesting!

Was the meeting transcribe or recorded in some way. I would be interested in hearing what was discussed. Since you are the Official paper of Galena, could you post a complete transcribed copy of the the meeting or minutes of what was discussed?

  8. sentineltimes.com says:

A copy of the minutes can be obtained from the Galena City Clerks office via a KORA request. You would need to contact them to find out when they will be available. The minutes will not be official until the they are approved at the next regularly scheduled council meeting.
