On Saturday, April 2, Lions from all across the state came to honor the new club, Galena Route 66 Lions. The event was held at the Masonic Lodge, 210 Joplin Street, Galena.
First Vice President Doug Gatewood hosted the event, welcoming everyone in attendance.

Past International Director Gene Vogel, Tonganoxie, Kan., was the guest speaker. PID Vogel is currently the president of the Kansas Lions Sight Foundation.
Other dignitaries at the event included District Governor, District “N”, Dwayne Willis, District Governor, District “A” Carleen Rajala, Vice District Governor, District “N” Marge Zakoura-Vaughn, State Council Chair, Beverly Greenwood, husband Mo Greenwood.

President Doug Gatewood, Second Vice President Harry Cantrell, Treasurer Lorraine Gillmint, Secretary Mary Billington, Tail Twister Gerald Gillming.
The additional Charter Members include: Steve Billington, Dorothy Cantrell, Larry Delmont, Bill Hall, Mark McNemar, Lance Nichols, Pat Price, Corky Schwartz, Mary Schwartz, Kari Casey, Wayne Nelson, Leslie Qualls, Travis Roderick, Brian Smith and Steve Vogel.
A wonderful meal of pulled pork, scalloped potatoes, “Green Beans”, salad, dessert, coffee, tea and water was served, with Main Street Deli as the caterer.
Other clubs represented at the Charter were Augusta, Cedarvale, McCune, Columbus, Baxter Springs, Burlington, and the Ark City Early Birds.
The club also received several cards from other clubs around the state welcoming them to Lions Club International.
